TRAIL LUDENS MACHICO
The race, which runs mainly from the parish of Santo António da Serra (Machico), starts and ends at the Ribeira de Machico Church and offers participants two distances to choose from: Trail Rota Fonte da Velha with 23 km 1140 D+, and Trail Rota da Sidra with 11 km 550 D+.
RACE INFORMATION
It was in Machico that in 1419 that the discoverers of Madeira Island disembarked for the first time, and it was the first capital of the island. Located on the eastern part of Madeira Island and rich in history and heritage, Machico municipality is also blessed with immense natural beauty with absolutely perfect conditions for trail running.
For the seventh time, Ludens Clube de Machico organizes the Trail Ludens Machico. This trail, organized in partnership with the Parish of Santo da Serra (Machico), takes place on the 08-04-2018 and counts for the Trail Madeira Circuit 2017/2018. The event, which crosses trails mainly within the parish of Santo António da Serra, thrives in respect for nature and the environment and starts and ends next to the Church of Ribeira de Machico.
Santo da Serra parish is located in an upland at an altitude of 700 meters. It’s known by its distinctive, extraordinary landscape, ruled by chestnut trees, acacias and elderberry trees, giving to the participants a wonderful trail running experience between luxuriant vegetation, dirt roads, pathways, levadas, mountains and creeks.
The event has two trails: a long trail – Trail Rota da Fonte Velha, and a short trail – Trail Rota da Cidra. Athletes must be over 18 years old and can be from the Juniors, Seniors and Masters categories.
